AUGUST

Pretty miserable weather all month. Bunches are small and not much ripening.

The main activity is to keep the canopy clean of disease and allow air to circulate throw the vines. We have some mildew at the tops where the sprayer cannot reach. Take off some laterals but we need every leaf we can get.

Now we are organic there is grass control around the vines and Richard has a job of work to do to keep things tidy. He has it now down to a fine art as long as he does it regularly. Next year we hope to introduce more clover and mustard below the vines to keep the grass at bay. Not easy to do at this stage.

Mitchams Viticulture will come with their gang and hand weed the grass later in the season on a dry day.
