DAY ONE

Out trusty Romanians are here seen tying the vines with strict instruction on what to tie to the fruiting wire and what to leave until after the danger of frost passes. I do the tricky ones which might break. Dave Morris and I inspected all the vines before the gang came in and pegged the vines to leave for later. Leaving a vertical ‘sacrificial’ cane is an insurance both against frost — a second option — but it also slows down bud burst throughout the vine. 

DAY TWO

This shows the next day after we finished tying down the vines! I am mighty pleased that we got the forecast bang on.
